New Year, New You. Better Financial Life in 2022!

Time to hit the reset button, and hit the ground running in 2022. Am I right? Unfortunately, we can’t technically, reset the major stuff, the pandemic, or the financial market. But there are some major things we can do to get this year off in the right direction! You CAN be in control of your finances, and we’re here to help.

Hit the Financial Reset button on your budget game in 2021, and start winning with your money. The New Year is here and it is time to set yourself up for success with your finances.

Just like you train your body for results, you have to do the same for your money. Get in the habit of working on your finances every week—a little work goes a long way!

Here are 5 steps to getting financially fit in the New Year.

1 | REVIEW THE LAST YEAR WITH YOUR MONEY

Questions to ask yourself as you review your finances over the last year:

What did you do well?
What do you need to work on?
What financial goals did you reach?
What goals did you miss?

This process may take you a little bit of time, DO THE WORK! It is amazing what you can learn about your habits and personal goals by taking a little time to reflect on your money.

2 | MAKE A PLAN FOR THE NEXT YEAR

Once you’ve reflected on the good and bad from the last year. Start looking at what the New Year will bring for you and what you want out of it.

    Here’s How:
    • Ask yourself: “What are my financial goals going into this year?” or “What do I want out of my money this year?”
    • Make a list of your financial goals
    • Now prioritize that list. What is the most important goal for you to hit this year? What is the least important?
Writing financial goals can be difficult, that is why our goal roadmap was created, we want to help you organize and prioritize your goals, nail down time frames for completion and help you identify how you will actually reach your financial goals.

3 | MAKE SURE THAT YOU ARE USING YOUR BUDGET EVERY SINGLE MONTH!

Your budget is your roadmap for success with money, if you do not have a budget. Now is the time to start! Think about it this way, your budget is your roadmap to your money. It is your strategy and plan for how YOU will use your money and make it work for you.

If you are not sure where to start with a budget, get our certified financial program, the Ultimate Beginners Budgeting Course. This course will take you through the basics of personal finance, how to build a budget, and the tools you need to be successful with your financial goals this year.

Budgeting is the single most important financial tool you can use. It allows you to build a foundation that all of your financial decisions stem from. Every time you spend money, buy an item, pay a bill, or earn a paycheck your budget moves, and changes. In order to hit your financial goals, you need to be aware of the movement on your budget and what you can do to improve your financial life.

All of your choices go back to your budget, use that tool to improve your financial game.

4 | SET A SCHEDULE & WORK ON YOUR PERSONAL FINANCES EVERY WEEK

Create a reminder in your phone, calendar, or even a sticky note on your bathroom mirror.

Remember to work on your budget, review your goals, and monitor your spending every week.

15-20 minutes of work a week saves you time at the end of the month and more importantly, it keeps you on track with your financial goals for the month and year.
